Anadarko employees are active and engaged volunteers in the communities where we work and live, and we recognize that donating our time and resources is equally important to contributing financial support to local organizations. United Way is both a major corporate charitable giving initiative and a significant opportunity for Anadarko employees to volunteer their time giving back to local communities. As part of our annual United Way campaign, ninety volunteers in the Denver office completed more than 148 volunteer hours over 14 days in 2016.
In addition to United Way, Junior Achievement and Habitat for Humanity are two of our executive-sponsored engagements that our employees committed nearly 5,000 hours to in 2016.
In addition to these corporate initiatives, each Anadarko office has traditional annual campaigns designed to support local traditions and culture. These initiatives often include food, blood and holiday drives that our employees both contribute to and manage. In Houston, the MS 150 from Houston to Austin was supported by an Anadarko team consisting of 74 riders donated more than 370 hours to the cause. In Northern Colorado, our employees volunteer regularly with the Weld Food Bank.
Anadarko also encourages and supports volunteer activities initiated by employees by providing communications, logistics, space and supplies. Employees may also apply for Anadarko in Action grants. These $1,000 grants are reviewed by an employee committee to provide support to organizations with which the requesting employee regularly volunteers.
